Customer service, dedication to trends and technology key to firm's growth and retention

For 50 years, Kroll Construction has been improving neighborhoods one home at a time. The company, founded by Al Kroll in 1961, is dedicated to delivering interior and exterior home projects that enhance curb appeal and resale value, while increasing energy efficiency, safety, and home owner satisfaction.
“Home improvements are expensive and finding the right contractor to trust can seem impossible,” says Todd Kroll, who runs the company along with his father, Al, and brothers Brian and Ron. “Kroll Construction’s motto is ‘Relationships Built on Trust.’ That’s how we have completed 100,000 jobs to over 50,000 satisfied customers and referrals in the last 50 years. Kroll is setting a new level of what to expect when you’re improving your home.”

Al Kroll and his sons make sure that the family-owned and operated business responds quickly to clients’ needs. Though Kroll offers an array of services – including windows, siding, roofing, kitchens and baths, room additions, porches and decks – every representative is personally responsible for educating the customer, explaining the installation process, and supervising each project through completion.
“Customers trust Kroll because we ensure they understand all the steps of their project and they know they can reach out to their representative with questions at any time,” says Todd Kroll. “That’s probably why over 50 percent of our business comes from referrals.”

Kroll offers perks that bigger companies can’t or won’t offer, such as working one-on-one with bankers to secure financing for home improvement projects, and a worry-free home guarantee for roofing, siding and window jobs. Because of its established relationships with suppliers, Kroll also offers a safe pricing guarantee.

“With 50 years of experience working with suppliers and customers, it means that Kroll gets the best prices on the best quality products and passes our savings through to the customer,” says Todd Kroll.

Training, Mentorship, Competitive Pay

One of the reasons Kroll has been around for half a century is its dedication to keeping up with the latest trends and technology, and 2010 was a very exciting year, according to Todd Kroll.
“With the revamping of our Website and the addition of our Twitter and Facebook pages, we are thrilled to give consumers more avenues to research and feel comfortable with making improvement to their homes,” says Todd Kroll, adding that a new home improvement blog is also on the way.
The company, headquartered in Garden City, is currently hiring office staff, representatives for home visits, installers and technological and social communication staffers.

Todd Kroll says the key to running a successful family business is hiring and keeping great employees who become an extension of that family.

“Having trust in our employees that each one will treat every customer in the same respectful manner that they would like to be treated is our key for growth and retention,” says Kroll, adding that employees receive training and mentorship, along with competitive pay.

“Our team members hold each other accountable, and share ideas daily for how to make customers’ experiences the best in the business, ” he says.
