3 Things You Need to Do for Your Roof Before 2015
Your roof did a lot of work for you this year, protecting you from the relentless heat and shielding you from the heavy rains. Now that a new year is coming, you should start thinking of ways to strengthen your Detroit roofing. Here’s our roofing to-do list for 2015:
- Inspect your roof. It’s up to you to either do it yourself or just hire a professional to do it for you. Should you choose to do your own inspection, keep in mind that safety always comes first! Watch out for loose shingles or hanging nails, as well as wet, sagging boards you can slip or trip on. Don’t forget to include the gutters in your roof inspection.
- Start repairs. After doing an inspection, schedule repairs based on what you found. A word of caution: some repairs (especially damage that affects large areas) are trickier than others, so consulting an expert will help you decide if replacement is a better option.
- Give the roof a good washing down. Try to squeeze in some roof maintenance work during your spring-cleaning. Use a hose to remove moss spots and debris. Repaint what needs to be repainted. Re-oil what needs to be re-oiled so you can keep the roof in excellent shape throughout the year.
It’s never too early to start showing your roofing in Detroit a little extra TLC, especially if keeping it in tip-top shape means better protection for you and your family for the years to come.
